Volleyball picks up road win over Ancilla
Vikings win in four in MCCAA play.
Glen Oaks toughed out a close four-game volleyball match at Marian University's Ancilla College Tuesday, winning 25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19.
The victory was the second for the Vikings against Ancilla and helped the program improve to 2-6 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference standings with four game remaining.
Sophomore Kaytlin Smith had a big night offensively with 15 kills, but she was equally effective defensively with four solo blocks. She finished with two assists and a dig as well.
Karsyn Stebbins dialed up 10 kills, four service aces, eight digs and a pair of blocks, Alicyn Arevalo posted seven kills, an ace, eight digs and a block, and Keegan Russell put up six kills, seven assists, six digs and three blocks. Elayna Zuidema came away with 16 assists, two kills and two digs.
Also contributing to the victory for the Vikings were Gina Smith (three kills, six digs), Tamerah Clay (two kills, an assist, four aces, four digs), Kylie Quist fiished with a kill, an ace and eight digs, while Isabella Coy notched three digs.
The Vikings stay on the road this week with a 6:30 p.m. showdown with Lansing on Thursday.
