Lansing earns volleyball win at Glen Oaks
Stars claim 3-0 victory in MCCAA play.
In a Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference volleyball tilt at Glen Oaks Tuesday night, Lansing came away with a 25-21, 25-7, 25-13 victory over the Vikings.
The victory pushed the Stars to an 11-4 overall record and a conference-best 3-0 mark. Glen Oaks slipped to 2-11 overall and 1-2 in Western Conference play.
Glen Oaks briefly held a 5-4 lead in a competitive first game, but Lansing went on an 8-2 run to regain an advantage for good. The Vikings fought back with three aces by Karsyn Stebbins to get within two points midway through the game to stay within striking distance but they couldn't quite close the gap.
Lansing rolled in Game 2, jumping out to a 6-1 lead and closing things out on a 12-2 run.
Game 3 was tied at 5-5 before the Vikings ran out of steam. Anna Hoch finished with 11 kills for a powerful Lansing offense.
Stebbins paced GOCC with three kills, while Keegan Russell, Gina Smith, Alicyn Arevalo and Kaytlin Smith each had two. Kulayjah Weller had four assists to go with a kill and two digs, and Stebbins produced four aces.
Isabella Coy finished with 10 digs and Russell was next in line with seven.
Glen Oaks travels to Kellogg Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. matchup.
