Viking softball team splits with Sienna Heights JV
GOCC earns first win of the season in Game 1.
The Glen Oaks Community College softball team picked up its first win of the season Friday on the road against the Sienna Heights JV. The Vikings dropped the second game for a split.
Game 1
Glen Oaks 7, Sienna Heights JV 3
Addison Harris produced three hits in four at bats. Harris singled in the second inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the first inning. The Vikings jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Audrie Dugan singled, scoring two runs, and Timmery Hunter grounded out, scoring one run. Glen Oaks added one run in the second. Harris singled to center field, making the score 4-0. Dugan got the win for the Vikings after the right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking three.
Harris and Bella Monsma each collected three hits for Glen Oaks. The Vikings ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game.
Game 2
Sienna Heights JV 13, Glen Oaks 4
The Vikings collected 15 hits compared to 10 by Sienna Heights but left 11 runners standed. Cassidi Parham and Zoe McLaughlin-Burden each had three hits for Glen Oaks. Bailey Trail doubled down the left field line on an 0-2 count, which helped Glen Oaks Community College tie the game at one in the top of the second. Sienna Heights scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Aimee Reinhardt started in the circle for Glen Oaks and gave up 10 hits and 13 runs (12 earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking 11.
Miller started in the circle for Siena Height. The starting pitcher allowed 15 hits and four runs (three earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one. Trail led GOCC with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Timmery Hunter and Audrie Dugan each collected multiple hits for the Vikings.
