Vikings take two against Lake Michigan
GOCC softball sweeps LMC.
Glen Oaks softball earned a home sweep of Lake Michigan College Saturday with 6-2 and 4-2 victories. The Vikings improve to 8-4 in MCCAA Western Conference play with the wins and move to 13-7 overall. GOCC is also 4-0 thus far on its home diamond.
Dakota Sigler tossed a complete game victory in game one with five hits, two unearned runs, and two walks allowed with one strikeout.
In the third inning, Glen Oaks went ahead on a three-run home run by Aimee Reinhardt. The Vikings scored two more in the fifth and one in the sixth. Both Red Hawk runs came in the sixth inning.
Reinhardt had four RBI on two hits with one run. Brady Lesher had a double and single, scoring twice. Sierra Carpenter added a double and RBI.
The second game saw Glen Oaks score once in the first inning, twice in the fourth, and once in the sixth. LMC had solo runs in the second and third innings. The Vikings outhit the Red Hawks 7-5.
Ava Mejia struck out seven in her complete game victory, allowing five hits, two runs, one earned run, and two walks.
Kacie Scott had a home run, double, and single. She added two RBI and two runs scored. Aimee Reinhardt had a double. Sierra Smith and Melina Ragotzy had the other runs scored.
Next up for Glen Oaks softball, which currently sits in second place in the MCCAA Western Conference, is a home doubleheader Friday with Kalamazoo Valley.
