Men's golf team closes out the year at Bedford Valley

BATTLE CREEK — The Glen Oaks Community College men's golf team ended the spring season with an 11th-place finish at the NJCAA Region XII Championship at Bedford Valley Golf Club. 

After three rounds on the par-72 layout, the Vikings (top four player scores each round) finished with a team total of 1,015. Montcalm won the team title with 913, followed by runner-up Grand Rapids (917) and Delta (948).

Monday featured 36 holes of play and the tournament concluded with 18 holes Tuesday. Connor Triemstra fired a 4-over-par 76 in the third round for the lowest round of the event by the Vikings. He shot 80 in the opening round and finished 34th overall with a 246. Flavio Hernandez was 38th after closing things out with an 81. He shot back-to-back 84s Monday. Gaven Lewis was 47th after a 257 total for three rounds and Graeme Herald placed 51st with a 263 total.
