GOCC men's basketball team hammers Owens
Vikings win second consecutive at home.
CENTREVILLE — Jumping out to a substantial first-half lead Saturday at home, the Glen Oaks Community College men's basketball team eased past Owens 89-62 to complete a holiday homestand. It was the Vikings second win in as many nights and this time around it was freshman Will Jamison who led the way.
Jamison ended the night with 22 points to go with five rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block. He drained five 3-pointers in the effort. Amauri Moore posted 19 points and a team-best 11 rebounds (nine offensive) with an assist, steal and a block.
The double-digit parade didn't end there as Darrius Roach and Taurus Baugh both finished with 12 points, and Akin Smith had 10. Demetrius Jenkins added eight and Ananias Evans chipped in six for the Vikings, which improved to 5-3 overall this season. Roach also led the squad with eight assists.
Glen Oaks, which shot 46.6 percent from the field and 36 percent from behind the arc, built a 50-27 halftime lead. It was smooth sailing the rest of the way as the Vikings punished Owens in transition for the game (21-6) and capitalized on 13 turnovers to the tune of 18 points.
The Vikings head to the St. Clair Classic Dec. 6-7 where they will take on Oakland and St. Clair.
