No. 7 Macomb wins at Glen Oaks
Glen Oaks Community College's men's basketball team was already fighting injuries and illness. On Saturday, they also had to battle the NJCAA Division II No. 7-ranked Macomb squad. With a depleted roster and without head coach Mike Elliott, the Vikings didn't have enough in the tank as the Monarchs finished with a 103-74 victory.
Daivion Boleware led a cast of five GOCC players to reach double figures with a 28-point effort that included four 3-pointers. Jaiquan Edwards scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half, and Tylan Harris, Darrius Roach and Lavonta Ash each finished with 11 points for the Vikings. Boleware also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Tyler Swanwick, Edwards and Harris each pulled down six boards.
Derek Anderson and Roach both finished with three assists.
The loss dropped Glen Oaks to 8-3 overall this season. Macomb improved to 8-1.
Macomb shot 50 percent from the field for the game and the Vikings operated at a 41.8-percent clip.
