Lansing baseball wins twice vs. Glen Oaks
Vikings drop MCCAA contests on the road.
Glen Oaks baseball dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader at Lansing Community College by a 13-3 margin. The defeats dropped the Vikings to 4-7 in MCCAA Western Conference play and 7-23 overall.
In Game 1, Glen Oaks had six hits with two runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth. The Stars had two runs in the second, two more in the fourth, three in the fifth, and six in the sixth inning. Lansing had 13 hits on the day.
Andrew Thorpe hit a solo home run and singled for the Vikings. Brayden Clark had a hit, two RBI, and drew a walk. Peyton Simmons drew two walks and scored. Erick Marin had one hit and one run.
In Game 2, Glen Oaks started strong with three runs in the top of the first inning. Lansing tied it up in the bottom of the third, then unloaded with an eight-run fourth inning. The Stars added two in the bottom of the fifth to reach the run rule threshold. Lansing outhit GOCC 10-4.
Clark smacked a two-run homer in the first inning. Thorpe had a double. Marin had a run and both Simmons and Steven Drewyor had hits.
The Vikings host the Stars Sunday in the second half of the weekend doubleheader.
